SOUTH Wilts seconds have thrown themselves deep into the Southern Electric Premier Division 3 promotion mix by bowling over previously unbeaten Waterlooville.

Waterlooville’s first loss enabled Trojans to regain top place – South Wilts II captain Tom Pearce celebrating a maiden five-wicket haul in the process.

Left-armer Pearce (5-25) and Jack Mynott (3-29) did the damage as the 'Ville tumbled from a comfortable 133-3, Australian Sam Williams making 67.

They lost seven wickets for 31 runs in sinking to 164 all out.

Back from his university studies at Loughborough, Jack Mynott underpinned the South Wilts run chase, carrying his bat for an unbeaten 61.

He shared a half-century start with Sam Pittman (22) and, although Den Draper went cheaply, enjoyed another stand with Rob Pittman, who plundered a six and ten fours in a brisk 47.

When South Wilts II host Tottpon & Eling II at Bemerton on Saturday (1pm), skipper Tom Pearce and his team will have more than one eye on the top two clash at Rowlands Avenue, where Waterlooville play Trojans.
