SOUTH Wilts Under-15s' fantastic run ended in defeat at the Natwest ECB National Finals at Oundle School.

Fielding first in the semi-final, tight bowling at the start from James Wade and Lewis Wakeford restricted Worcestershire side Himley.

Jordan Whitehouse accelerated the innings in the middle part and retired on 52. South Wilts hit back in the final overs to bowl Himley out for 125. Wakeford returned to finish with 3-19.

South Wilts lost early wickets to impressive Adam Finch and were bowled out for 70 in the 18th over with James Wade last man out for a top score of 12.

The 3rd/4th playoff was a one-sided affair after South Wilts put in a below-par fielding and bowling performance.

The Sutton top three batted supremely and racked up 168 off their 20 overs. Miles Kantolinna (50 retired) and Henry Smith batted well in response but never threatened to chase the score down and they finished on 136 all out.

Worcestershire were crowned champions.
