SOUTH Wilts' Luke Evans is part of a university trio that is jet-setting to South Africa in the new year for a month-long cricketing visit.

Evans, with fellow Southampton Solent University freshers Matt Stokes and Ryan Murray, fly to South Africa in just over two weeks to coach at Hilton College, near Pietermaritzburg.

The three, who are on BA Sports Coaching and Development degree courses at Solent, all play their cricket locally in the ECB Southern Premier League.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for these three lads, not only from a cricketing perspective, but also coaching, which is perfect for their academic development given their degree courses,” enthused South Wilts skipperTom Morton and Solent’s Sports Development officer.
