FORMER South Wilts spin all-rounder Ryan Burl’s dreams of playing for his native Zimbabwe against India in the forthcoming ODI and T20 series have been shattered by a knee injury suffered at a training session at Bulawayo’s Queens sports club.
According to eye witness accounts, Burl was rushed to Mater Dei hospital where doctors attended to him and put his left leg into a plaster. It has not been established how long the 21-year old will be out of action.
The Zim squad was playing touch rugby as part of fitness training when it seems Burl twisted his knee while running with the ball.
It was reported that Burl, who helped South Wilts win the SEPL championship in 2014, was in superb form and was being tipped to be in the Zimbabwe ODI team for the first time.
