SOUTH Wilts fourths' unbeaten run in Hampshire Regional Division 2 West was halted by Christchurch, who won by 10 runs.

The visitors won the toss and opted to bat and got off a steady start.

However, the introduction of spin from both ends changed the course of the game.

Paul Wylie and Ben Higton each picked up three wickets as Christchurch lost their way. The pair bowled their 10 overs each unchanged with Wylie taking 3-24 and Higton 3-28. By the end of the 28th over, they had stuttered to 80-6.

Continued spin was the way forward and with Ed Wade taking 1-4 from 3 overs, Christchurch reached 94-7 with just 9 overs left. Unfortunately the reintroduction of seam and an explosive 48 not out from Ross Bannon changed the balance as Christchurch closed the innings on 160-8.

Alec Lloyd (27) and Jack Stearman (20) got South Wilts off to a good start but when both fell in quick succession, the innings began to stall. Ed Wade (24) and Charlie Gent (33) took South Wilts to 105-2 in the 30th over, but it was hard work against an accurate visiting attack.

Once Gent had fallen to the wily Rob Wright (5-32), the South Wilts' youngsters collapsed and, although they battled to the end, they were all out 10 runs short at 150 with one remaining.

South Wilts Under 11s enjoyed a double success.

The A team's match at Chippenham was over in double quick time.

The home side were shot out for just 44 in 11 overs with Cameron Young and Freddie Higton each taking three wickets and Max Woodroffe two. The target was reached inside seven overs with George Coltart (15no) and Charlie Thomlinson (19no) ensuring a 10-wicket win.

The B side, meanwhile, hit 108 against Shrewton. Aidan Riley and Zach Bird each retired on 25 before bowling Shrewton out for 23 for an 85-run victory.
