SOUTH Wilts fourths maintained fifth place in Regional Division 2 West with a narrow 10-run over Bramshaw 2nds.

The team, made of nine under 16s, three of whom were under 13, came charging out of the blocks to reach 75-1 off just 10 overs. The run rate slowed dramatically as wickets began to fall and pace was taken off the ball.

Ed Wade, 13, hit a fine 53 and fellow teenager Jack Stearman 38 as South Wilts collapsed to 184 all out. Ben Higton struck 23 before becoming one of four run out victims. Bailey Loveless sparked the innings' demise with 3-22 for the hosts.

South Wilts young seamers struggled with the slopes of the ground and Bramshaw got off to a good start. A wicket for Tom Bolam and yet another run out kept South Wilts in the game but, by the 20th over, Bramshaw had reached 110-3 and looked well on their way to victory.

Higton (2-47) and Wade bowled with good control but anything loose was put away lustily by Vane (40) and Roberts (47).

Skipper Rob Wade - not under 16 - was introduced to try and make the breakthrough and immediately removed the dangerous Roberts. Then in tandem with Bolam, the pair tied the batsmen down completely. Bolam took 2-47 and Wade 5-17 as Bramshaw were bowled out for 174 in the final over.

South Wilts thirds suffered from terrible availability and slipped to a five-wicket defeat to Hursley Park 2nds.

Debutant Tom Berzins hot 61 alongside Russell Rowe's 37 as the hosts posted 198-6 off their 45 overs.

Wiltshire under 15 off-spinner Akram Ghauri was the pick of the bowlers as Hursley reached their target with an over to spare. Andy Savage hitting 79 not out.
