SOUTH Wilts thirds have been left nervously looking over their shoulders after another defeat saw them drop to 13th in County Division 3 North.

Batting first, they scored at a pedestrian rate on a good Steeple Langford wicket with fast outfield. Russell Rowe hit a run-a-ball 30 and Steve Kidd struck 51 but 203-5 off their 45 overs was a below-par score. Henry Smith finished with 78 not out as Langford's Nick Partridge picked up 3-34.

Despite a tight opening burst, the hosts cruised to their target with Martin Grearson's 72 the pick of the batting effort. South Wilts' bowlers stuck to their task well but dropped catches cost them any chance of a comeback and the hosts reached their six-wicket win with 3.1 overs to spare.

South Wilts fourths moved up to second in Regional 2 West despite not hitting a ball in anger. Their spare week due to the odd number of teams in the league combined with results elsewhere means they now have only leaders Great Durnford ahead of them.
