A FIVE-WICKET win for South Wilts thirds over Overton secured sixth place in County Division 3 North.

The Salisbury side bowled well and were dominant in the field with only three

Overton batters getting into double figures.

James Wade finished a successful campaign with figures of 4 for 30 along with a great spell of swing bowling from Sam Burton, who chipped in with 3 for 18.

Overton were blown away for 113 within 28 overs.

In reply, South Wilts lost the two openers early on, with home captain Watts taking both wickets until he was caught and bowled by a fierce straight shot from the ever-improving Archie Knight, which saw him injure two fingers and seek treatment at hospital.

Dan Wall made a stoic and effective 17 to steady the ship.

It was yet again the introduction of Tom Bolam and Jon Burton that made the difference in the end as they both batted with poise and urgency.

Unfortunately, Bolam was attempting to hit the ball into the nearby tennis court when he skied one off Johnson and was caught well by Kent for a well made 37.

Then, entered leading fourth team batsman Ed Wade, who knocked a well made 19 not out.

The winning runs came in the 30th over from consistent Jon Burton. He despatched the ball to the boundary for six runs, finishing 24 not out.

Elsewhere, the fourths have been promoted from Regional Division 2 West after finishing second. Their game with Alderholt was cancelled after the visitors forfeited.
