SOUTH Wilts 3rds moved up into third place in the league after recording an eighth consecutive win.

The latest triumph came at Steep first XI, winning by 82 runs.

The visitors were quickly out of the blocks with Darren Sargent and Henry Smith punishing some loose short bowling. When Sargent fell for a well made 50, Ed Wade joined Smith to keep the runs flowing.

Smith then went for 43, followed by Wade who fell for 28, Richards for 40 and then skipper Everett followed too.

James Wade knuckled down defending the good balls and putting away the bad balls and he managed to keep on target for 250. With Ben Huntley (19) in support, J Wade then launched an attack and hit his first senior 50.

He departed just before the close with South Wilts all out for 284-9.

After Sam Burton had made an early breakthrough, Tom McCubbin and Dean Knight set about the challenge well, as the pair took the score to the 100 mark.

Legspinner Ed Wade made a double breakthrough to remove McCubbin (36) and then Hughes without scoring.

Knight then fell for an impressive 63. The hobbling Ben Huntley made the breakthrough and from then on there was only one winner.

Steep kept going well but were all out for 202. Ben Richards, Henry Smith, Sam Burton and Ed Wade each took 2 wickets while there was one each for James Wade and Ben Huntley.
