League and cup double for South Wilts
SOUTH Wilts secured the Wednesday Evening Invitation League and cup double with victory over Hampton Park in an exciting end of season encounter.
Set an improbable 161 in 20 overs and having lost the dangerous James Hayward in the second over of the innings, Eddie Abel, 45, and man of the match Jon Burton, 51, brought the reply within touching distance, before a cameo 14 from team manager Trevor Pittman eased them home with four balls to spare.
Earlier, Hampton Park's innings was dominated by ex-South Wilts players Jo Cranch, 80, and Lysander Wolf, 20.
Awards were presented to both South Wilts and Dinton for their respective Division One and Two successes.
