DECISIVE Laverstock & Ford booked their place in the second round of the Wiltshire Senior Cup as they comprehensively eliminated league rivals Pewsey Vale.

Louis Elder got the home side off to a flying start volleying in a right wing cross inside the first two minutes.

This filled Laverstock with confidence and they were able to have the lion share of the possession and control the game. A superb team move was finished by Rob Gallagher to put Laverstock 2-0 up on 22 minutes and James Clifton put the tie out of sight on 35 minutes after running on to a through ball and comfortably slotting the ball under the advancing Pewsey keeper.

Pewsey started the second half with a bit more fight and saw their best chance fly over the bar from close range after the forward had rounded a Laverstock defender and keeper. This proved to be the last danger Laverstock would face as they went on to dominate the rest of the half with both Ollie Batchelor and Russ Jones both hitting the upright. It was left to Tom Mundy to cap off a great team display, smashing in a shot from the edge of the area on 68 minutes.

Manager Robbie Lakeman, pictured, spoke after the 4-0 win: “I was really pleased with how we played.

“We moved the ball really well and defended as a team. It was the sort of performance we all know we are capable of but for some reason struggle to do on a regular basis. This can only help our confidence though and we now hope to push on and get some points on the board in the league."

Laverstock have been rewarded with a home tie to Purton FC on Saturday, November 8.
