DEJECTED Bemerton Heath Harlequins are staring five straight league defeats in the face as their wretched run of form goes on.

The Harlequins, usually among the top eight sides in Wessex Premier, have dropped to 14th in recent weeks, with two results in four days not going their way.

On Saturday boss Ian Chalk, who is stepping down at the end of the season, saw his side slip up to a late Jordan Browne goal at home to Newport (IOW).

And to add insult to injury, Harry Potter cast his spell over Harlequins with a wizardry double for Horndean in a midweek 3-1 triumph, despite Scott Joyce slotting Harlequins into an early lead.

Now, just clutching one league win in 13 matches, Bemerton look to change their fortunes on Saturday, with the visit to high-flying Winchester City.

DOWNTON’S winless curse reached five matches after going down 3-0 at Pewsey Vale on Saturday.

Goals from Dan Roan, Lewis Brown and Ricky Franklin, respectively, sealed the victory to inflict pain on Colin Hopkins’ Robins, who are hovering just outside the danger zone.

With no victory for seven weeks, 12th placed Downton look to get up-and-running again when Hythe & Dibden visit Wick Lane on Saturday (3pm).
