IAN Chalk will say a “heartfelt” farewell to Bemerton Heath Harlequins on Saturday as his long managerial tenure comes to a halt - and insists he is hoping to mastermind one last victory.

The 49-year-old will lead his troops out for the final time after eight seasons in charge when they host rock-bottom Totton & Eling at Western Way (3pm).

“I’ve had a fantastic time at Bemerton and am proud of everything we have achieved together, but all good things come to an end and it’s my time to move on,” he said.

“Hopefully the club will continue to grow and the new manager (Graham Kemp) can bring success to the club. If we can win on Saturday against a rejuvenated Totton & Eling then that will be great, but whatever the outcome it’s been an honour and a pleasure to have worked at such a great little club and my heartfelt thanks goes out to all at Harlequins, and especially Steve Slade (chairman) for giving me that opportunity.”

In the lead up to Chalk’s departure, he enjoyed a win over ten-man Folland Sports on Saturday.

Jack Eves unleashed an unstoppable long-range volley before tucking home Reece Rusher’s cross for a two-nil lead.

Follands got back on track and deservedly halved the deficit through Ryan Long.

But it wasn’t long before Scott Joyce restored their two-goal cushion with a slick finish from a passing move which secured his 29th goal of the season.

Folland never gave up and were awarded a penalty in the last five minutes following a rash challenge from Josh Hazell, and Long converted to give them hope.

However, the scoreline stayed at 3-2.

Bemerton were looking to continue their winning ways in the Russell Cotes Cup semifinal midweek, but Horndean had other ideas.

Jack Slade put his side in front but the hosts levelled on the hour mark and went onto go ahead through Mark Smith.

Things then combusted for Bemerton as Matt Palmer saw a straight red card for headbutting a home player late on.

They went onto exit the competition from a 2-1 defeat – their second cup semi-final elimination in a week.
