FOR the second week running, Seb Dawes struck for Laverstock and Ford in another 1-1 draw.

The attacking player, who joined from Bemerton Heath Harlequins, made it two goals in as many games for the Dell outfit away at Andover New Street.

But this time it was Lavvy who drew first blood.

They made full use of attacking down the slope in the second period by taking the lead.

In the 63rd minute, Dawes used his speed to chase down and block a defensive clearance in the 18-yard box.

He kept a cool head and lifted the ball over the advancing keeper.

For the next ten minutes it looked like it would be Laverstock who would extend their lead, with Russ Jones causing all sorts of problems for the home defence and substitute James Clifton just unable to stretch and reach a Sam Dorrington cross.

But they were left to rue those chances when the hosts drew level 15 minutes from the end.

A corner was drilled into the area and a bullet header from New Street's towering centre half John Robb nestled into the bottom corner, much to the delight of the home fans.

The game became more stretched as the half went on and both sides had the chances to win. Again some last-ditch blocks denied Laverstock, and at the other end New Street found Alexis Aguer in goal making some fantastic saves.

"New Street is a very tough place to go whatever stage of the season you go," reflected Lavvy boss Robbie Lakeman.

"The slope plays a massive part in any game and they know how to use it to their advantage."

"The past two seasons we have gone there and totally dominated the game and come away losing both times."

"What's pleasing is that we have come away with something, this time, albeit a point and not the three I think we deserved.

"We dominated the game for long periods and certainly had the chances to win the game. We need to be more clinical in front of goal but those sorts of things happen as the season goes on. I would be more concerned if we weren't creating the chances but that's not the case."
