DANNY Finnigan gobbled up second half goals to collect Amesbury Town's maiden win of the term and derby day pride over Laverstock and Ford.

Tough marksman Finnigan picked himself up from a aerial collision to bag a brace in

the final 20 minutes to get Blues up-and-running in Wessex Division One.

After both sides had chances to deliver the crucial opener, the game-changer came on 68 minutes.

Craig Wheeler burst into the box and was deemed to have been bundled over by Christian Hurst and the spot kick was given. Finnigan stepped up and duly dispatched.

And with ten minutes left on the clock Finnigan pounced again, reacting quickest to

Craig Jennings's cross with a bullet header.

Boss Gareth Horner said: "We were delighted to put our first three points on the board Saturday.

"If you looked at our opening fixtures and those to follow in the up and coming weeks you wold class it as a tough start and I think to get to this point with five points is a good return.

"In some sense it's slightly disappointing because we have probably done enough to win all three games.

We have introduced some real quality into our squad this year as well as retaining all but two of last years players and most have been playing southern league so our intentions are there for all to see."

On the opposite side, joint Lavvy manager Liam McConnell said: "The penalty decision was very harsh, and of course made things very difficult for us.

"We didn't play to the levels we have performed at so far this season during that second half which was disappointing.

"But we know where we went wrong and we will aim to address it and bounce back ahead of Alton next Saturday."
