LAVERSTOCK & Ford bounced back from derby day defeat to record an impressive 3-1 victory over a tricky Alton to shift into third place in Wessex Division One.

It was the quickest start Lavvy had made all season, going one nil up inside 12 minutes after Archie Lovegrove fired home James Clifton's cross at the far post.

But the dream start was cancelled out seven minutes before the interval.

A quick breakaway left the hosts in a defensive muddle and a pin pint cross was guided home by the head of Henry Fox to make it 1-1 at the break.

Alton grew in confidence after the break and were beginning to look as though they were going to deny the home side.

A tactical introduction of Rob Gallagher saw things swing back in the favour of the home side and they deservedly took the lead on the hour mark. Elliott Wykes' perfectly executed in-swinging free kick was missed by everyone to make it 2-1.

And, ten minutes later, Seb Dawes burst clear to set up Tom Munday from close range to give his side all three points.

Co-manager at the Dell Liam McConnell said: "The lads clearly rolled their sleeves up in the second half and just kept persisting until they got the break through.

"Alton were a relatively unknown side to us this season but based on that battle we're sure they will prove to be difficult opponents so to get three points at home is satisfying. "We roll on."
