TEN-MAN Laverstock and Ford eventually succumbed to a second league defeat after chucking away two precious leads in an ill-tempered showdown at high-flying United Services Portsmouth.

Russ Jones put the visitors ahead on 14 minutes before Fraser Clark levelled.

Russ' brother, Adam, regained their lead three minutes later from the penalty spot to put his side back in the driving seat.

Things were going smoothly until the interval reached.

A foul on shotstopper Alexis Auger went unnoticed as the scramble was followed up by

Peter Lines.

Then, just 60 seconds later, Oliver Hoare saw red for a last-ditch challenge in the area and the spot kick was powered home by former Amesbury man Callum Coker as the hosts went into the interval 3-2 up.

The second half proved to be a difficult task.

A cruel deflection off the impressive debutant led to Mark Christie getting a US fourth before Coker wrapped up his brace with a 68th minute header.

Adam thought he had reduced the arrears with a long-range strike, but it was disallowed.

Livid co-manager Liam McConnell said of the 5-2 loss, "it's safe to say two very big decisions in two minutes determined our fortune.

"The lads were on the floor at half time, 2-1 up and in control, to end up 3-2 behind and down to 10 men in the space of two minutes would hurt anyone.

"Yes it's a knock back to our plans but that's football, the lads are already hungry to get their next result."
