A DOMINANT, destructive display by Laverstock & Ford saw them rout local rivals Shrewton 9-0 at The Dell to ease their way into the last 16 of the Wiltshire Senior Cup.

After a closely fought 20 minutes where both sides were cancelling each other out, the home side were awarded a spot kick but Adam Jones saw his effort saved. The miss seemed to kick start proceedings for Lavvy, as Jones was soon rectifying matters and his cross was deflected in for the opener on 28 minutes. Shrewton held firm despite countless attacks but ten minutes before the break Archie Lovegrove unleashed a thunderbolt which flew in from 30 yards.

The home side came out hunting for the kill but a resilient Shrewton defence held them at bay until 65 minutes when Russell Jones matched Lovegrove's earlier strike with an unstoppable 25 yard effort. Jones then added his second and with the game seemingly over Christian Hurst leapt like a salmon to bury a far post header. Then came the Jones brothers show, in the space of three minutes they scored three goals. Russell bagged his hat-trick before adding a fourth and Adam finally made amends for his earlier spot kick. Hurst rounded things off ghosting in to score the ninth.

Club Secretary Matt McMahon hailed Laverstock's performance.

"I couldn't quite believe my eyes, some of the football our lads played was phenomenal," he said. "We have had to scroll the record books to see the last time we have won 9-0 and to do it against a decent local rival was incredible."
