DOWNTON FC had to settle for a point at Alton after twice being pegged back.
A 1-0 advantage was carried into the interval when Declan McGregor was quickest to react to a loose ball in the penalty area.
The hosts started the second half much brighter and found a leveller from Luke Perkins, who beat Charlie Aldridge in a one-on-one scenario.
Dan Telfer rifled the Robins back ahead with a rasping 25-yard drive, and it looked like the points were heading back to Wick Lane.
But, with ten minutes left, up popped Simon Wright to plant home a low cross from close range.
Manager Colin Hopkins said: "Although some might say we have won a valuable point from home, I hoped for all three. But credit to Alton - they are a strong outfit and, particularly in the second half, caused us problems."
