IMPACT substitute Seb Dawes emerged from the dugout to ease the Laverstock and Ford nerves in what transpired to be a comfortable 4-1 victory over rivals Ringwood Town.

Matthew Steer guided Town ahead after just eight minutes with a stinging volley that arrowed into the bottom corner.

The hosts restored parity on 28 minutes, Russell Jones burst through on goal.

The Sydenhams Wessex Division One clash was flat, until midway through the second half when Dawes, on his return from injury, made his entrance.

He immediately changed the dynamics, rising to meet Jones’ cross, which cannoned off the bar and into the path of Rob Gallagher who smashed it home.

And 15 minutes from time, it looked as though Dawes had won the game for his side, converting Russ Jones’ assist for the third.

But late drama was still to hit the Dell as Olly Hoare was penalised for a late challenge in the box, giving Ringwood a lifeline from the spot.

Lee Newman-Judd, making his first start of the season, produced a stunning save.

At the other end, two minutes from time, Adam Jones got his name on the scoresheet with an angled effort, which bounced in off the upright.

Joint manager Liam McConnell said: “We asked for a reaction in the second half and we were dominant.

"Seb had a huge impact on the game so it was good to see him back to what he does best. We did need Lee (Newman-Judd) to make a cracking save from the spot kick, credit to him that was a big moment and he deserves the plaudits.”
