INCONSISTENT Bemerton Heath Harlequins departed Fawley empty-handed after an "embarrassing" 3-2 defeat - despite sparking two revivals.

Hammering Aldershot Town was quickly forgotten when the Western Way outfit fell behind in the second minute.

A corner was whipped into the area and flicked onto the back post where Danny Fry was on hand to poke home.

Bemerton, who struggled to string together any posing possession and were indebted to goalkeeper Joe Prodomo who pulled off three first-rate stops, restored parity five minutes before the interval.

Jack Lovell was fouled in the area and the penalty was given, which Graham Mankin rifled into the top corner.

Fawley's bright start to the second half was rewarded as they restored their lead.

Slack defending allowed Jordan Mellor to go through on goal and finish.

To Bemerton's credit, they responded again and were on level terms ten minutes later, Mankin completing his brace from close-range.

But against the run of play, five minutes from time, Fawley snatched a winner through Fry, which was a carbon copy of their first goal.

Outraged Heath boss Graham Kemp said: "That was embarrassing and the lads got told that after the game."

"I will not take a performance like that. We need to step up as a side, and quickly.

"I think we should be challenging for top six and, with performances like that, we are way off that target."
