DEJECTED Graham Kemp fumed a string of "key decisions" that led to ten-man Bemerton Heath Harlequins crashing to a 4-2 defeat at title-chasing Blackfield and Langley.

Things were smelling of roses for Quins when Jack Slade and Russell Cook coasted them into a two-goal cushion.

But The Watersiders hit back twice through Sam Lanahan – the second a penalty - before skipper Sam Poole and Emil Salama put them ahead.

But that told only half the story of an incident-packed Sydenhams Wessex Premier encounter that saw Bemerton have two penalties awarded against them, Jack Lovell sent off for two bookings and around half the team yellow-carded by referee Adrian Knight.

“In all my time in football, I’ve not seen a performance like it,” rued Graham Kemp.

“Key decisions went against us and it’s culminated in bookings for players who’ve hardly ever been booked before and Jack Lovell being sent off for only the second time in his career.

“I could drive from my home in Poole to the Wiltshire FA headquarters in Swindon to register a complaint, but there’s no point without video evidence.

“Max Frampton, our goalkeeper, had already saved one penalty when a second one was given. Blackfield’s Carl Preston trod on the ball and fell over, the game continued and they had about three more attempts to score, which we cleared, and the ref pulled the game back, awarded a penalty and booked Jack Lovell.

“Jack was then booked again (at 2-2) when their left-back miscontrolled the ball. The Blackfield lad had a standing jump, Jack had a running jump and he’s been sent off for leading with his elbow."
