DOWNTON FC twice came from behind to a earn a point at home to Alton Town in Sydenhams Wessex Division One.

Christian Adkins gave the visitors the lead but ten minutes before the break Tom Aldridge delivered an equaliser.

The Robins later lost Paul Gulliver for a late challenge and the visitors reaped the benefits from the numerical disadvantage by restoring their lead. Jon Gray unleashed a shot which deflected past Charlie Aldridge.

But ten-man Robins hit back through talisman Dan Telfer.

Manager Colin Hopkins said: "After twice going behind, we showed great character to get back on level terms particularly when we were down to ten men."

"Alton are a good side and we've proved we can get results against teams in our league when everyone is up for it."
