SALISBURY'S rearranged Sydenhams Wessex Premier trip to Horndean ended in frustration after the match was abandoned at half time when the scores were level at 2-2.

Central defender Steve Walker guided the Whites into a two-goal cushion after 18 minutes with two finishes, both from set pieces, in the space of three minutes.

The first arrived from Claudio Herbert's corner and the second from Sam Roberts' free kick.

However, the Deans hit back on 30 and 35 minutes with goals from Josh Maloney, who started the season with the Whites, and Robbie Tambling who profited from errors in the visiting defence.

And with an interesting second half in store, the pitched was deemed to have cut up badly at the top end of Five Heads Parks, leading to referee Craig Green ending proceedings.

That means the game will be rearranged for the third time after the initial game in January was postponed due to the wet weather.

That game adds to Whites' fixture backlog.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division on Tuesday night, goals from Russell Cook and Sam Griffin secured a 2-0 win for Bemerton Heath Harlequins over Bournemouth Poppies at Western Way.

And in Division One, Downton dished out a 4-1 drubbing at Pewsey Vale.

Ross Bentall and Shaun Prentice put the Robins 2-0 up before Pewsey halved the deficit moments before half time.

Ben Smith restored the visitors' two-goal cushion with a header and then Paul Gulliver thumped home a fourth.

As Pewsey pushed for a route back into the game, Downton were forced to finish the game with ten men as James Sainsbury came off injured and had used all their substitutes, nonetheless they dug in for the win.

Boss Colin Hopkins said: "Pewsey is a difficult place to go to and they caused us problems at times particularly in the first half. I was disappointed to concede on the stroke of half time but the lads reacted to what I said at half time and ensured we came away with a very valuable three points."
