DOWNTON ended a three-match losing streak with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Romsey Town.

The Robins came from behind to wrap up an 11th league win of the season after strikes from Ross Bentall and Shaun Prentice.

Town took the lead at Wick Lane from a set piece that was tucked past Charlie Aldridge by Callum Holloway.

The second half was when Downton found their stride and a neat move just inside the area enabled Bentall to head home the equaliser.

Downton continued to improve as the game wore on and an excellent move resulted in Prentice superbly finishing in the bottom left hand corner of the goal to go ahead for the firs time.

The score line could have been increased for Downton at the very end of the game but Harry Crisp's lob was brilliantly tipped over the bar by the keeper.

Robins boss Colin Hopkins said: "We were poor in the first half but played much better in the second. "I was particularly pleased with our second goal which came from some neat football, brilliantly finished by Shaun Prentice."
