JIM Macey says he's relishing the prospect of being at the forefront of Amesbury Town's new challenge.

The newly-appointed manager has been busy behind the scenes preparing the Blues for a new chapter in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier.

Macey helped Gareth Horner, who he succeeded in the hot seat, to promotion after finishing second in Division One during his role as assistant manager.

"It was a great achievement working with Gareth Horner last season and getting Amesbury Town promoted to the Wessex Premier League," Macey said following Horner's resignation from the number one role, which brought down the curtain on a three-and-a-half year spell.

On the transfer front, Adam Pearson, Craig Wheeler, Nic Turpin and Dan Beckles are among the players who have re-signed.

Curtis Angell, Grant Powell and Ali Brown have all penned new deals for the Bonnymead Park outfit.

Macey added: "For this coming season, I have the foundations of a very good squad to work with and I am working hard to strengthen the team to be able to compete at the next level.

"We will be looking to consolidate in the league, hopefully enjoy a cup run and build on that moving forward.

"Having managed in this league before, I realise that there are top sides with good budgets and I am enthusiastic to compete against these sides again."

The club are currently looking for business to sponsor the club.
