IT has been a remarkable start to the campaign for Downton and Laverstock and Ford.

Both clubs dominate the top two spots in Sydenhams Wessex Division One after three victories each.

The Robins lead the way one 10 points - ahead of neighbours Lavvy by a solitary point as they've played one more game than them.

Double 2-0 victories over Totton & Eling on Saturday and Pewsey Vale on Tuesday night has made it a perfect start for new boss Rae Hughes.

Tom Aldridge and Macauley N'Jie fired at Totton while Aldridge found the net at Wick Lane and was joined by Jamie Waters.

Behind them with nine points is Laverstock and Ford after two victories in four days.

After trouncing East Cowes Victoria 7-1 thanks to Joe Sanger's hat-trick, Russell Jones' double and Oliver Hoare and Archie Lovegrove finding the net, they defeated Ringwood Town on Tuesday night 2-1.

However, it wasn't the start they had hoped for after falling behind inside 24 minutes, Ryan Smith making no mistake from close range.

The goal seemed to rock the hosts and, despite another two clear chances being wasted, the visitors led at the break.

The introduction of Rob Gallagher & ex-White Harry Hale sparked Lavvy into life.

And on 70 minutes, the pressure finally told as Adam Jones connected sweetly to a dropping deflected shot and sent a rasping strike into the back of the net.

Then, with six minutes remaining, in-form Sanger went on a mazy run where he crossed for Jones at the far post who tucked home the winner.
