RESILIENT Bemerton Heath Harlequins staged a second half revival to beat United Services of Portsmouth 3-2 in the first round of the Sydenhams Wessex League Cup.

Things didn't look good at the interval as the hosts trailed 2-0 at Western Way.

But they turned the tie on its head thanks to goals from Scott Joyce, Jack Lovell and Connor Doe.

Joining Heath in the second round is Sydenhams Wessex Division One outfit Laverstock and Ford, who were 2-1 winners at home to Romsey Town.

Adam Bourner's spot kick put Lavvy ahead, but four minutes prior to the break Indrit Elezi levelled.

Then, with 20 minutes remaining, James Clifton popped up with the winner to send Lavvy safely into the next round where they will face Whitchurch United away.

The Dell outfit, who nickname themselves Bulldogs, locked horns with United on Saturday in the FA Vase, and exited the competition.

They will look to avenge that 3-1 defeat when a date is confirmed.

Bemerton will travel to Lymington Town.

And the winner of Downton and Bournemouth Poppies on October 18 will advance to the second round - the stage in which Amesbury Town were crushed by big-spending Blackfield and Langley 9-0.
