BOSS Graham Kemp says his "phone was red hot" after Bemerton Heath Harlequins were drawn Plymouth Parkway in the first round of the FA Vase.

Heath overcame Longwell Green Sports with a 3-0 victory at Western Way in the second qualifying round.

Connor Doe's brace and Jon Blake's effort proved enough for Kemp's charges.

"A routine win on Saturday to be fair," Kemp told JournalSport, "we dominated for long periods."

Bemerton battle for a place in the second round when hosting the South West Peninsula League Premier Division outfit on Saturday, October 22.

Kemp, who secured the loan signing of Reece Rusher from Salisbury, added: "Plymouth play at the same level as us and we are unbeaten at home so it has the makings of a good game."

"My phone was red hot after the draw so obviously we have drawn a good side."

Amesbury Town joined Heath in the next round of the Vase after thumping league rivals Whitchurch United.

Two goals from Dave Parry and one each for Grant Powell, Luke Walker, Ben Cook and skipper Craig Wheeler wrapped up a 6-0 win over Whitchurch United.

Blues manager Jim Macey said: "It was a great performance from my lads going back to my old club twice now and scoring nine goals and not letting any in."

Their reward is a home tie against Stroud-based side Brimscombe & Thrupp.

Tie winners will pocket £675 in prize money.
