A LATE penalty miss saw Downton dip out on three points as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Fleet Spurs in Sydenhams Wessex Division One.

Macauley N'Jie opened the scoring for the Robins with a sweet left-footed strike which nestled into the roof of the net following good build-up play from Shaun Prentice and Declan McGregor.

Dan Bone brought Fleet level when, on the edge of the area, he slotted past Charlie Aldridge, who is set to make his 200th consecutiveĀ appearance on Saturday.

After the break, Robins made a double change and they were gifted the chance to win it from the spot on 75 minutes after a handball in the area. Jamie Waters stepped up and misfired.

"I couldn't knock the lads' work rate or commitment but we are just getting very sloppy at the moment and not reacting to mistakes," rued boss Rae Hughes.

"We need to have more quality all over the park if we want to finish near the top this season.

"I have a big squad so I will look t freshen it up this weekend and give some others an opportunity."

They host Ringwood Town on Saturday (3pm).
