A DOUBLE from Russell Jones helped Laverstock and Ford smash New Milton Town 5-0 away from home.

The marksman netted his first within three minutes with a neat strike.

Tom Mundy then doubled the lead shortly before the half hour mark, hammering home a thunderous effort from the edge of the box.

Adam Jones converted a superb free kick which nestled into the corner, all but ending the game at half time.

On 70 minutes, Adam Jones ran through and his pass to top scorer Joe Sanger was inadvertently turned into his own net by the New Milton centre half.

Russell Jones wrapped things up late on scoring his second and Lavvy's fifth.

The victory was their second in four days, cementing second spot in Sydenhams Wessex Division One.

Joint managers Robbie Lakeman and Liam McConnell said: "To earn six points from two very tough away games where we got nothing last season shows the steps forward we are making. The lads were professional as always."

"We're just trying to achieve each objective we set ourselves. Despite results from teams around us, we have no interest in the league table at this moment in time."

Lavvy host Romsey Town on Saturday (3pm).
