HEAVYWEIGHTS Sholing romped to 6-0 victory over Amesbury Town in Sydenhams Wessex Premier.

The Boatmen were at their best on Tuesday night at Bonnymead Park they moved to within three points of leaders Moneyfields.

They overwhelmed Blues thanks to two goals apiece from Zac Mouland and Lee Wort, Dan Mason’s 21st of the season and one from Nick Yeomans. They go level on points with third-placed Blackfield & Langley.

The defeat for Amesbury means they are 14th, six points clear of the relegation zone.

Boss Jim Macey said: "I lost my two full backs just before kick off. One was unwell and the other had a hamstring problem so I had to change the side."

"We started well enough but missed a couple of chances to take the lead but once they scored we were well beaten by a very good side.

"It's still a bit of a learning curve for my boys at this level when you're playing top six sides in this league who have quality and make you pay if you're not at the top of your game."

Blues, who have lost Adam Amiable to Alton, look to bounce back when they host mid-table Horndean on Saturday (3pm).
