BRANDON Mundy fired a late winner as a much-changed Salisbury advanced to the quarter-finals of the Wiltshire Senior Cup after a 3-2 victory over rivals Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

Whites made hard work of the second round tie as they chucked away a two-goal lead.

In an ideal start to the game, which passed a pitch inspection after torrential downpours, saw the hosts strike first in the 19th minute.

Steve Walker, back in the heart of defence after his car crash, was unmarked at the far post and guided home a signature delivery from Lewis Benson.

Their advantage was doubled 11 minutes later when Sam Roberts' neat through ball found Justin Bennett who dribbled past Jason Collins and slid into the net.

Jake Rawkins should have halved the deficit moments before half time when he was clear through on goal but thwarted by Nathan Ball.

Bemerton made their next chance count 13 minutes into the second half. George Colson's midfield pass was intercepted and Scott Joyce was sent bursting down the flank. He fired across the face of goal for Sam Griffin whose shot fell to Joyce and he did the rest.

Joyce was played in again but blasted over from close-range.

Then, there was a frenetic four minutes, which included a penalty and two goals.

Claudio Herbert drew a reckless challenge from Jordan Cole and the resulting spot kick from substitute Tommy Wright was blocked by keeper Collins.

The visitors then levelled when Michael Hubbard's set-piece was nodded into the empty net by talisman Jack Slade.

At 2-2, the game looked destined for a penalty-shootout but Mundy had other ideas, firing low past Collins to book Whites' place in the last eight.
