TWO late goals saw a dogged Amesbury Town pick up a point on the road at Bashley in Sydenhams Wessex Premier.

Hugh Dathan and Charlie Kendall had given Bashley a two-goal cushion with 20 minutes left.

But Blues fought back as Dave Parry reduced the arrears before Curtis Angell fired home a last-gasp penalty for a 2-2 draw.

The visitors could have led early on when Josh Stockwell crossed from the right and Kieran Stephens got a touch which the keeper, Joe Prodomo, brother of the Bashley manager, saved. The loose ball was struck by Stephens but deflected off a defender onto the bar.

At the other end, Dathan cantered through the midfield and unleashed a shot past the deserted Paddy Creese for the opener on 20 minutes.

In the second half, Harvey Slade had a long-range shot for the hosts while Stephens blazed over for the visitors.

Paul Coventry was then denied by the crossbar. That proved a telling moment as Bashley doubled their lead when a cross hit Kendall and the ball looped into the goal.

But on 81 minutes Amesbury clawed their way back into the game when a great delivery by Angell found Stephens on the left and his low cross was fired home by Parry.

And eight minutes later, Amesbury were level.

Stockwell's cross struck a defender and the referee had no hesitation in giving a penalty.

With Brockway and Coventry substituted, it was left to Angell to step up and slam home for a point.

Manager Jim Macey, whose side are unbeaten in their last three games, said: "It was another good performance and a well-deserved point."
