TWO late goals saw Bemerton Heath Harlequins eliminated from the FA Vase in a 3-2 defeat to Wiltshire rivals Melksham Town.

The last 64 tie was going to plan for Graham Kemp's charges when they sailed into a 2-0 lead thanks to early goals from Jack Slade and Scott Joyce.

Gary Higdon halved the deficit from the spot in the 21st minute as Bemerton led 2-1 at the break.

Jake Burgess should have put the tie to bed when he rounded the keeper but, with the goal at his mercy, stuck his left-footed shot wide of the target.

That miss proved costly in the closing stages as Town, who are riding high in the Toolstation Western Premier League, fired two goals in a frantic five-minute spell.

Ricky Hulbert levelled the scores on 82 minutes and the comeback was complete soon afterwards when Higdon netted the winner.

Bemerton, who got through tricky ties against the likes of Plymouth Parkway and Cullompton Rangers, would have travelled to Bristol Manor Farm in the last 32.

Blackfield and Langley also bowed out following a 5-0 thumping at Exmouth Town while Team Solent are the only Wessex side left in the competition after beating Bodmin Town 1-0.
