A NEW chairman is needed at Amesbury Town FC.

Steve Pearce is stepping down from his position at the end of the season after two years in charge.

He spent three years on the committee before becoming the club’s physiotherapist in 2014/15. It was at the end of that season that Pearce succeeded Jason Cameron.

He says work and family commitments are the reasons he’s unable to stay at Bonnymead Park.

“I’ve enjoyed it but it takes up a lot of my time,” he said.

“I’m leaving my job in March and will likely be working all over the UK.

“I also want to spend more time with my family.

“I spend two or three times a week at the club and it’s full on.”

The first team, which plays in Sydenhams Wessex Premier, picked up a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth Poppies on Saturday.

Ben Cook gave Blues the lead just short of the hour and Dave Parry struck the second with 11 minutes left.

Fawzi Saadi netted a late consolation.

The club are also looking for a commercial and sponsorship manager.

Anyone interested in either role should email amesburytownfc@gmail.com or call Pearce on 07885473380.
