BOSS Rae Hughes was left with "mixed feelings" after his Downton lost by the odd goal in a closely-contested Sydenhams Division One clash with Ringwood Town.

The match-winner arrived at Long Lane on the hour mark through Charlie Heggan.

The home team's skipper cut in from the left wing and unleashed a ferocious effort into the top right corner of the net, giving Charlie Aldridge in the Downton goal no chance.

"Mixed feelings, really, from me," Hughes told JournalSport.

"We played some decent football at times and the back four were superb but we just didn't really look like scoring.

"We lacked composure and quality in the final third. "Fair play to Ringwood, though, very organised and took the goal well."

The Robins, still in 11th place, host Weymouth Reserves on Saturday (3pm).
