IMPROVING Bemerton Heath Harlequins ended Fareham Town’s unbeaten run under new boss Pete Stiles with a 2-1 victory at Western Way on Tuesday night.

The visitors had the first say midway through the first half when, against the run of play, Curtis Robbins’ shot was spilled by Jason Collins and Simon Woods was on hand to slot home the rebound.

After the break, Bemerton hit back through Josh Buck.

Town were let off when Bemerton's penalty appeals for handball were turned away but shortly before the end, they weren’t to be denied.

Sam Griffin capitalised on the hesitancy in the Town defence to stab the ball home for the winner.

The win marked back-to-back Sydenhams Wessex Premier wins for Graham Kemp’s men who thumped division heavyweights AFC Portchester on Saturday 5-3.

Rich Jackson, who bagged a brace, was on target with Scott Joyce, Griffin and Jon Blake.

They look to keep up their recent run of form when they host Bashley on Saturday (3pm).

Bemerton are now 10th, four points behind Lymington but with several games in hand.
