AMESBURY Town stopped a rot of seven straight defeats with a precious point at Horndean.

Player/manager Adam Pearson got his first point since taking over from Jim Macey as Blues drew 2-2 with one of the Sydenhams Wessex Premier heavyweights.

Having taken the lead through ex-Salisbury forward Jack Maloney, the fifth-placed Deans had the tables turned on them as Cameron Roach and Craig Wheeler hit back for the Bonnymead Park outfit.

It remained 2-1 until the closing stages when defender Ashton Leigh was felled in the area.

The Blues offender was sent off and Maloney dispatched the penalty.

“A point is the least we deserved, we must push on,” Pearson insisted.
