LAVERSTOCK and Ford bounced back from derby defeat against Downton with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Fawley on Saturday, September 2.

In what is a dress rehearsal for next week’s FA Vase game, Laverstock were in dominant mood from the off.

Rob Gallagher and James Clifton both going very close.

Beatie in the visitors goal looked to be in defiant mood early on, making save after save and when he was beaten, the upright came to his aid preventing Keiran Mulcahy’s 30 yard shot from opening the scoring for Laverstock.

However on 37 minutes, Rob Gallagher was on hand to volley home after Mankin’s knock down.

The lead was doubled in the 40th minute Beatie was cleverly outdone by Lovegrove who stroked home for a 2-0 lead at half time.

Within 30 seconds of the restart the game was as good as over, Mankin’s shot fell into the path of Gallagher who grabbed his second of the game.

The score remained at 3-0 as Laverstock saw out the game and collected three points.

Lavvy now sit second in Sydenhams Football League Division One with five wins from six games and scoring an impressive 21 goals in the process and only conceding nine.

After the game Lakeman & McConnell were quick to praise the squad: “It was important we bounced back from Tuesday’s defeat not just with a result but the performance also.

“We were back to our best in that first half and could have been out of sight. Yes we took our foot off the gas after the third goal.

“But the damage was done. We were stretched this week with injuries and unavailability but the lads who came in have done themselves proud as we head into FA Vase week.”

Laverstock’s next game is against the same opposition Fawley in the FA Vase, on Saturday, September 9 at the Dell, followed by an away trip to New Milton Town in the league cup, who are currently ninth in the league, with two wins from seven games.
