AMESBURY Town are into the second qualifying round of the FA Vase following a comprehensive 3-0 win over New Milton Town on Saturday, September 9.

Goals from Ben Cook, Craig Wheeler and Cameron Roach secured the win for the Blues, who will now face an away trip to Alton in the next round.

From the outset Amesbury were dominant and, although frustrated by the home defence, took the lead through a good effort from the edge of the box from Ben Cook.

The second half was much of the same, with Amesbury dominant in possession which resulted in two further goals from Craig Wheeler and Cameron Roach.

Manager Gareth Horner spoke following the result and said: “Whilst we were not exceptional, we were totally dominant and in the end you have to be pleased to be in the next round.

“We have had a tough start in terms of our league fixtures and we need to start putting points on the board sooner rather than later.”

The Blues played Portland United on Tuesday, September 12, in the league cup and came out 5-2 winners.

Goals from Cameron Roach, Kieran Stephens and a hat-trick from Cameron George were enough for Amesbury to secure two wins in four days.

Amesbury are back in action on Saturday, September 16 against Fareham.
