11:32pm Thursday 19th April 2012 in Journal Football
CHALKE Valley's hopes of the Division Two title were ended when Alderbury reserves fought back from 4-1 down to draw 5-5.
Pete Downes gave Valley the lead on five minutes, Russ Parsons made it two aftet ten minutes and Darren Scammell grabbed the third in the 19th minute. Simon Dreyer pulled one back on 26 minutes but Parsons restored the three-goal cushion six minutes before the break.
Stuart Dreyer on 51 minutes and Simon Dreyer on 66 pulled it back to 4-3, before an own goal on 71 minutes seemed to settle the game. However Ian Greenough gave Alderbury hope seven minutes from time and Simon Dreyer completed his hat trick and the comeback in injury time.
Porton Sports played two games in three days. They were 2-0 down to Alderbury at half time on Thursday, following a stunning strike and some hesitant defending.
Andy Fung smashed in a Tim Matthews corner and Porton had the bit between their teeth. Martin Lewis had the best chance of the game but couldn't connect five yards from goal, and Alderbury held on.
Porton were 2-0 down at half time again on Saturday, this time against Tisbury United. The goals were a long-range lob and a deflected shot, but this time they rallied superbly.
An own goal got them back into it, and Doug Malcolm levelled with his first touch after coming on as a substitute. Then another substitute, Matt Lucas, headed in Lee Harkins' cross with his first touch, and Lewis made it 4-2 from close range.
Tom Parker got the fifth, from a corner, and the third and final substitute Perry Short completed the scoring.
