Salisbury & District League roundup - September 22/23

DURRINGTON Dynamos won 3-0 at Porton Sports on Saturday, but were denied early on by a brilliant save from stand-in goalkeeper Dano Jones. Dynamos deservedly took the lead before half time though.

Porton improved after the break but couldn't find the equaliser. Jones kept it at 1-0 with a string of fine saves, but he couldn't stop the second, and then a third following a defensive mix-up.

Figheldean Rangers started well at South Newton & Wishford, passing the ball in great style, and were rewarded with a 20th-minute lead. Newton got into the game as the half wore on, and levelled with Dave Warburton's great shot on the turn. The hosts went in front after a neat move was put away by Richard Tutton.

Newton were unable to convert several chances in the second half and were made to pay when Figheldean grabbed a deserved equaliser with ten minutes to go.

In Division One, Durrington WMC are still looking for their first win of the season as a solitary first-half goal for Halfway House reserves gave them the three points.

Boscombe Down Rec Club Ran riot with a 12-0 victory against West Harnham reserves. Chris Young scored from the tightest of angles in the first minute, and two from Tom Brown and a superb Robbie Homebury volley had them 4-0 up after just 15 minutes. Martin Luke made it five with an incredible strike from close to the halfway line.

Brown took his tally to four in the second half, and Harry Gale marked an epic performance by hitting four in the space of 30 minutes. Debutant Charlie Croker's tidy finish rounded off the scoring.

Value Cars drew 2-2 with Deacon Alms reserves, the visitors going ahead through Tom Symes' penalty, awarded for a handball. Deacons goalkeeper Ben Eastmond saved a penalty in the second half, before an own goal by Ross Uglow evened up the game.

The Deacons responded well and Anthony Tatner powered a header home from a corner just five minutes later. Value Cars kept the pressure up though, and found a late equaliser to grab their first point of the season.

On Sunday, St Pauls Club dominated the battle for Victoria Park, hammering Harlequins SC 10-1. There were hat tricks for both Louis Elder and Brett Dear, two for Jojo Brooks and a goal apiece by Jessie Walters and Chris Guthrie.

In Division Two, Royal George beat Cedars Bar 4-2. A superb solo effort from Jake Noble and a Tim Fewins hat trick gave them a first-half lead, and although Cedars pulled two back, some fine saves from goalkeeper Michael Penk ensured the George held on.
