Plenty still to play for says Holmes
SALISBURY City boss Nick Holmes, buoyed by his side's 2-0 victory over promotion hopefuls Exeter City in midweek, insists the Whites have everything to play for in the final weeks of the campaign, despite them looking certain to miss out on a play-off place.
Tuesday night's success, courtesy of goals by Wayne Turk and Matt Tubbs, ensured City again claimed the scalp of one of the Blue Square Premier's leading lights.
Exeter, who had previously beaten City in both the league and the FA Trophy this term, had moved into the play-off positions prior to Tuesday's visit to Old Sarum, while their recent set-backs mean Whites will fall just short of the top five.
"We dominated the game and it was good to finally beat Exeter," said Holmes. "They came at us strongly as we knew they would, but we got bodies in the way and did what we had to do.
"It sets us up nicely for the last four games. We want to finish as high in the table as we can and if we put a bit of a run together it would set us up nicely for next season."
Holmes takes his charges to relegation-threatened Altrincham on Saturday before another side almost certain to feature in the play-offs, Cambridge United head to the Ray Mac.
A trip to Grays Athletic and a home game with York City then complete Salisbury's debut campaign in the top flight of non-league football.
Whites visit Laverstock & Ford on Tuesday evening for their Salisbury Hospital Cup semi-final.
