Tom springs offside trap to score winner
BEMERTON Heath Harlequins under 13s recorded a fine 1-0 away win over Lydiard in their North Wilts League contest thanks to a late Tom Spayes goal.
With only minutes remainng, he sprung the offside trap before chipping the advancing keeper from the edge of the box.
Salisbury City under nines were crowned league champions after extending their unbeaten run to 17 games.
Recent victories over Clarendon (10-0), Pewsey (6-0) and the weekend's 3-0 win against Laverstock & Ford Tigers have put them in an unassailable position with just one game to play.
Availabilty problems hit Amesbury Sports under 14s, who were edged out of a13-goal thriller at a blustery Worthys of Winchester in their latest Testway Youth League Division One match.
James Henry scored four with Jordon Matthews also on target for Sports, who went down 8-5.
Had they taken more of the chances they created Amesbury may well have taken something out of the game.
Two 3-1 wins at the weekend for Rouge Raiders' under tens keep them second in the South Wilts League table.
On Friday evening they beat Alderbury courtesy of goals by Chae Sykes and Connor Callanan (2), then on Sunday defeated Pewsey Vale with skipper Callanan again netting a brace to chalk up his 100th goal for the club in just three seasons.
Lewis Hillyard also got his name on the scoresheet.
Salisbury Juniors under 14s made it 12 wins out of 12 when they put 17 without reply past a hard-working Durrington side, who continued to compete despite the scoreline.
Ben Brown led the way with six, while Josh Bennett and Danny Cousins both scored hat-tricks. James Haggaty (2), Joe Spratt, Jack Aldridge and Mark Thompson netted the others.
In the same division, Phoenix FC ran out 4-1 winners at Ludgershall Sports.
Salisbury City's under 14s stay second in the Mid-Solent League table after beating Spartan Colts 3-0. City got off to a flying start, scoring after just three seconds when a through ball from the kick off caught Colts' defence unawares and Jesse Cutts volleyed home the only goal of the half.
Ben Brown rounded the Spartan 'keeper early in the second half to double Salisbury's lead. Cutts' second goal completed the scoreline.
Fordingbridge under 15s' 8-2 defeat to Andover New Street confirmed New Street as league champions.
