EXPLOSIVE Salisbury hockey fourths maximised their goal-scoring opportunities during their 6-0 thumping over a weak and vulnerable City of Portsmouth fourths.

The visitors, who only had 10 players due to limited availability in October halfterm, were under the cosh early on and strikes from Jon Craig and Alan Garrett coasted the visitors into a two-nil cushion.

Salisbury’s young Chris Pearl played for the away side for the second half and was one of their two best players but their misfortunate showed when Salisbury rattled in another four goals from Jamie Short, Jim Nicholson, Phil Pepper and Akram Ghauri, netting his maiden senior goal.

The fourths have now recorded three wins from four to maintain their excellent start to the season. They are currently second with two other teams, all of whom are locked on nine points.
