MORE than 40 members of Sarum Orienteering Club clinched a bronze medal at the national Compass Sport Cup Final.
The club travelled to Long Valley, near Aldershot, to compete against nine clubs from across Britain, all of whom had qualified in regional elimination stages.
Sarum, previous winners and are predominantly highly- placed in the competition, attained third place – 44 points behind Scotland’s Forth Valley, who successfully defended their title.
In second spot was South Ribble, finishing 11 points ahead of Sarum.
The star performers for Sarum were Lucy Butt and Barny Huthwaite, both registering maximum points.
There were also top displays on the muddy terrain from Jackie Butt, Harry Butt, Ian Peirce, Rob Ashton, Ben Chesters and Paul Lane.
