SOUTH Wilts’ trophy-winning cricketers will have an opportunity to hone their twenty20 skills on the Army next summer before setting their sights on winning the prestigious Southern Electric t20 Cup for a third successive year.

The triple Southern Electric Premier League champions face the Army at Lower Bemerton on Thursday evening, June 4 – three days before their scheduled defence of the t20 Cup begins .

It’s an important run out for the Army as well – the South Wilts visit forming a key part of their Inter-Services Cup preparations.

“It’s certainly an attractive match for us,” said South Wilts skipper Tom Morton.

“We were due to have played the Army this last summer, but the match coincided with some of the worst early season weather we experienced and it was called off.”

South Wilts are already through to the second round of the ECB Royal London national club championships, having drawn a first round bye.

They will entertain either Totton & Eling or Potterne in round two at Lower Bemerton on May 10.
