A DRIVEN professional boxer from Bulford is poised for glory when he steps into the ring for his second major fight.

Robert Brown, a soldier in 32 Regiment Royal Artillery at Larkhill, is gunning for a second successive victory this month after breezing past Kieran Gray in his maiden professional fight.

Brown, known as Bomber in the ring, is lining up against a journeyman – someone who competes on a regular basis – on Saturday, January 31.

The fight will take place in Trowbridge Civic Centre and Brown, who turned professional last March, has 70 tickets to sell to ensure he gets paid.

“It means the world to me to get another fight and I really want to make something of it,” said the 26-year-old.

“However, win or lose, I’ll continue to drive forward and keep doing the best I can do.”

Brown started boxing since the age of 10 and joined the army boxing team in 2010, three years after becoming a soldier.

He trains everyday at The Contender Gym, Trowbridge and is striving towards becoming a hit in the world of boxing.

He added: “I’m a prospect and I want to go somewhere. I have aspirations to win the British, Commonwealth and European Belt.

“I have a good balance between boxing and work and have support from my regiment when I need it. My day job comes first.

“I just need to keep winning fights and get good records.

“I always dreamt about turning pro but didn’t know how to.”

Brown competes in either middle or light middle weight fights and says he keeps an eye on what he’s eating.

Tickets cost £30. Anyone wanting to watch Brown, who has already sold 15 tickets, can email robbrown300@gmail.com.
