A SMALL team from Sarum Orienteers slipped on their hiking boots for the sixth event of the South West Orienteering Association’s Galoppen League.
On a crisp day at newly-mapped Cooper’s Hill, near Cheltenham, Sarum overcame the muddy terrain to secure a variety of good finishes.
Family honours were very much at stake and Tom Butt gained second place in a highly-competitive blue course, beating father Jeff (41st). On the green course, Hazel Cutler (27th place) came in before father Keith (50th).
Charlotte Thornton (15th) beat husband Ricky (24th) over the short green course, while, on the same course, Peter Hambleton improved on last week’s runner-up position by coming first, ahead of wife Joan (27th).
